Girls find a friendly 4-month-old tabby at the playground and bring her home, but nobody seems to be looking for her

Going to the playground and coming home with a kitten sounds like a pretty successful day to us.

Two girls were playing at a playground when they came across Mochi, a 4-month-old tabby wandering around without a collar. She was incredibly friendly right from the start and had no problem being picked up and carried around. In fact, she didn't seem particularly interested in leaving her new friends at all.

Of course, they couldn't just leave her there.

The family brought Mochi to the vet to get her checked out and see if she belonged to anyone. She didn't have a microchip and hadn't been spayed yet, although she's still pretty young. Thankfully, she was also in surprisingly good health. The only issue was an ear infection that needed treatment.

Mochi came home with the family while they searched for a possible owner, and she settled in almost immediately. She's already climbing onto shoulders and making herself comfortable around the house. For a kitten who was living outside earlier that same day, she seems pretty happy with the change of scenery.

Her first night was also much calmer than anyone expected. No wild kitten zoomies or middle-of-the-night chaos. Mochi prefers batting around little toys like paper balls and soft toys, with one very important favorite: the daughter's plush French fry. Out of everything available, she chose the French fry. Fair enough.

The family has put up posters and posted online to make sure nobody is looking for her. If they don't find an owner after a week, they're planning to officially adopt Mochi.

Judging by how quickly she's made herself at home, we don't think Mochi would object to that plan.

    She has adjusted to my home quite quickly but to be safe, we put out posters and Facebook notices in case she belongs to someone. But after a week, we will likely fully adopt her into our family.

    She was surprisingly quiet and didn't zoom around much. She doesn't like moving toys but she loves small toys that she can whack around like paper balls

  • Can we take a moment to appreciate Mochi’s cutie patootie little toe beans? As if this tiny tabby wasn’t already adorable enough, she had to come equipped with the sweetest little paws too. Those beans are practically begging to be admired, although touching them is probably another story. We can already tell Mochi is going to get away with absolutely everything in this house. How are you supposed to say no to a face like that and those teeny tiny beans?

  • Getting a cat really does change your life in the best possible way. You bring home one tiny feline and suddenly you can’t remember what you did before they were there. There’s always someone waiting for you to come home, curling up beside you on bad days, and making you laugh over the dumbest things. Sure, you’ll never pee alone again and everything you own will be covered in fur, but that seems like a pretty fair trade to us.

  • Those girls must be over the moon right now. Imagine heading to the playground like any other day and ending up with Mochi tagging along home. Now they get to discover all her little quirks, introduce her to their favorite toys, and watch her personality come out as she gets more comfortable. Plus, Mochi already claimed one of their plush French fries, so clearly she’s wasting no time getting involved. This is going to be such a fun addition to their childhood.
